Books and References on Academic Productivity

Here are a number of books that I think are pretty good:

Belcher, Wendy. Writing Your Journal Article in Twelve Weeks: A Guide to Academic Publishing Success
2009. Currently my favorite book about the article writing process! Highly recommended.

Day, Abby. How to Get Research Published in Journals
Good book about what to put in your research paper.

Silvia, Paul J. How to Write A Lot.
Short and sweet! Very good motivational manual, advice about writing, productivity, etc.

Boice, Robert. Professors as writers.
A classic. Good advice, especially for researchers with `writer's block'.

Alley, Michael. The Craft of Scientific Writing
Another favorite.

Johnson & Mullen. Write to the Top!
Lots of good advice, some of it different from what many of the other books about academic time management. For example, rather than advising researchers to train themselves to work in regular, short periods of time, as most of the advice books do, they advise sequestering yourself as much as possible.

Boice, Robert. Advice for New Faculty.
Good advice, most of it backed up with actual studies.

Bolker, Joan. Writing Your Dissertation in Fifteen Minutes a Day: A Guide to Starting, Revising, and Finishing Your Doctoral Thesis
Helped me when I was trying to finish my dissertation. Lot's of good motivational advice.
