Accrual of arguments
A familiar phenomenon of practical reasoning is the accrual of reasons or arguments: often reasons or arguments that individually lack the weight to support a certain conclusion, do have that weight in combination. In this talk I will discuss how this phenomenon can be captured in formal systems for defeasible argumentation. I will first list some observations that any formal analysis has to respect, and then tentatively explore some alternative approaches.
