Maastricht Argument Day An international workshop on argument

The Maastricht Argument Day is an international workshop on argument. Prominent researchers in the field of formal argument present their work.

The Day has the form of a series of talks, with room for discussion. We have reserved about three quarters of an hour for each speaker, including discussion. The main goal of the workshop is to provide a meeting place where researchers on argument can informally meet.

Recently there has been a lot of enthusiasm in this area, while there still are promises for the future. However, the research seems to remain rather scattered. In order to add to the coherence in the field, we have suggested the speakers to address questions such as the following:

• What are distinguishing characteristics of argument?
• In what ways does the modern research on argument differ from more classical research on reasoning?
• What are the central open problems?
• What are the promises of the research on argument?
