Just as reason/conclusion steps, exception steps in arguments have warrants. Here a warrant underlying an exception step is made explicit. The warrant is added as an issue, and since there is no reason justifying it, it is not justified. As a result, the exception that c is an E, does no longer block the connection between the reason that c is a P and the conclusion that c is a Q. Therefore, the statement that c is a Q is justified again.
