On the friday the 25th of june 1999, the department of cognitive science and engineering, in collaboration with the Centre for Behavioral and Cognitive Neurosciences, has organized a symposium on cognitive modeling. This symposium focussed on the ACT-R cognitive architecture, developed by John Anderson and his group at Carnegie Mellon University.

John Anderson (Carnegie Mellon University): ACT-R and learning
Richard Young (University of Hertfordshire): ACT-R and Soar still have much to learn from each other
Dieter Wallach (University of Basel): A critical evaluation of evidence against ACT-R's declarative-procedural distinction
Frank Ritter (University of Notthingham): Frontiers of Cognitive Models: Emotions!!
Jans Aasman (Technical University of Delft): User modelling, Soar, and the design of intelligent products
Niels Taatgen (University of Groningen): Learning without limits
Hedderik van Rijn (University of Amsterdam): Modelling stage-wise development in Act-R
Alan White (University of Groningen): Modelling individual differences in alphabet arithmetic
Linda Jongman (University of Groningen): The working memory hypothesis of mental fatigue
Mark Dekker (University of Groningen): Aging and Cognitive Control

Chairman: Gerard Renardel de Lavalette
All talks are in room 2 of the Academiegebouw, which is on the ground floor.
