Enthymematic and syllogistic arguments
The distinction between enthymematic and syllogistic arguments can only be made with respect to a set of rules.
Two rules:
- If John has stolen a bicycle, then he has committed theft.
- If John has stolen a bicycle and (if John has stolen a bicycle, he has committed theft), then he has committed theft.
? Our notion of rules is closely related to Toulmin’s warrants.
