Styles, stategies, procedural constraints
Each selection of lines of argumentation as made explicit in an argumentation diagram can be interpreted as
- a style of argumentation
E.g., in a genuine dialectical style, argumentation would always proceed by adducing counterarguments
- an argumentation strategy
E.g., backward chaining is a strategy in logic programming
In general, an algorithm can be regarded as a strategy
- procedural constraints (argumentation protocols)
E.g., in court, arguments cannot be brought forward at any moment in time
