Brute vs. reason-based facts
Brute facts can be known by direct observation or by inference from known evidence
There is an independent standard for the correctness of our knowledge, viz. the actual obtaining of the facts
E.g., knowledge of the fact that there is an apple tree is correct if and only there is an apple tree
