Optimizing the Bionic Ear to Your Needs
In order to maximize benefits of full broadband sound delivery and to have diagnostic capabilities at the touch of a mouse, two powerful and unique imaging tools are being tested in the Bionic Ear Mode.
Electric Field Imaging (EFI)*
Electric Field Imaging allows the audiologist to assess the status of the electrodes and the electrical current delivered from each. This can provide important information about how precise and focused sound information is when delivered from the electrode system, and may guide your audiologist in optimizing the users' hearing.
Neural Response Imaging (HR-NRI)*
Neural Response Imaging (HR-NRI) is used to measure how the auditory nerve responds to the sound information from the bionic ear. It may help the audiologist optimize sound quality, particularly for very young children who are unable to provide their reliable feedback on what they are hearing.

The circuit of the CII Bionic Ear is capable of recording neural responses in much greater detail (6 times faster sampling rate – 60 KHz) than is possible with Neural Response Telemetry (NRT) circuits employed in prior implant technology.

These two features work in conjunction with one another to provide your audiologist with insight into how the CII Bionic Ear is delivering more sound – from beginning to end.
