AI@RuG, ALICE: research programme
Autonomous & Perceptive Systems (APS)
AI/MSc thesis projects in Perceptive Systems
These are running projects with for MSc. students
who are looking for a project in AI and Pattern Recognition.
Occasionally there are also perceptual/cognitive experiments with
human subjects.
- Active Vision in Reading (prof. dr. L. Schomaker)
- Forensic Writer Identification (prof. dr. L. Schomaker, drs. M. Bulacu)
- Use of script-shape context in human reading of words (prof. dr. L. Schomaker)
- Historical Hand-written Document Analysis: image, layout & content (prof. dr. L. Schomaker)
- Local shape and letter segmentation in connected cursive script (prof. dr. L. Schomaker)
- Information Retrieval for Historical Hand-written Documents (prof. dr. L. Schomaker)
Requirements:
- Basic knowledge on pattern recognition, neural networks, image processing
- Experience with Linux, programming (C,C++,Java), reporting in LaTeX
- Interest in fundamental themes (architectures for perception and cognition)
as well as in working systems
- Having participated in the script-recognition course is beneficial for some projects
- Occasionally, a project may require an interest in cognitive-science topics and
experimental and social skills for
performing perception experiments with human subjects
