I. Cognitive Modelling

Cognitive modelling in Groningen has two major themes: modelling skill acquisition and application of cognitive models in so-called user models. As a research platform the ACT-R theory is used, developed by John Anderson and his research group at Carnegie-Mellon University. In order to properly model skill acquisition, the learning of new production rules in ACT-R had to be improved. Taatgen worked on this during his 1999 stay at Carnegie-Mellon University and completed a proposal for a new production compilation mechanism. The research of this subprogramme is embedded in the research school BCN.
